Catherine F. Higgins, M.Ed., SPHR - Bio

Catherine F. Higgins, M.Ed., SPHR, is the founder of Grand View Human Resources, a specialty consulting firm providing human resources services to industry.  Focus My Career, a division of Grand View Human Resources, specializes in career consulting services to individuals, with an emphasis on college students, recent graduates and young professionals.

Prior to establishing Grand View HR in 2008, Ms. Higgins was employed as the Sr. Vice President of Human Resources for Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she was a member of the Company's executive management team working directly with the President and CEO.  During her tenure from 1992 to 2008, Ms. Higgins implemented various human resources initiatives, including directing the company’s talent acquisition program, geared towards positioning Barr as a leading global generic and proprietary brand pharmaceutical company.

Prior to Barr, she held HR management positions with Inspiration Resources and Continental Grain Company in New York City.  Ms. Higgins has been SPHR certified through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) since 2008.  She received a M.Ed. degree from Boston University, a Professional Diploma Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Career Counseling from Manhattan College, and a B.A. degree from Herbert H. Lehman College (City University of New York).  She is an invited member of the American Management Association Human Resources Council, and is currently a board member for the Avon by the Sea Education Foundation, and Director of Membership and Marketing for the Staffing Management Association- NJ, a chapter of SHRM.
