People with disabilities have long been excluded from or underrepresented in the workforce. A 2018 Accenture study showed only 29% of Americans with a disability between 16 and 64 were employed, compared with 75% of those without a disability in the same age bracket.
Many companies specifically avoid targeting active people with IDD (intellectual development disabilities) due to preconceived notions about their capabilities and assumptions that recruiting efforts will require a heavy spend and complex expertise. Not true!
